White House ‘dereliction of duty’ on marriage: Bishop

Providence, RI, Bishop Thomas Tobin has described President Obama’s decision to stop defending the Defense of Marriage act as “a clear dereliction of duty and an obvious attempt to promote a politically-correct agenda in our nation.”

Bishop Tobin also says it should serve as “a call to action for citizens of Rhode Island” to confront the issue in the Ocean State, WPRI notes.

The White House announced on Wednesday that it will no longer defend the federal law defining marriage as only between a man and a woman.

The Obama administration says it may now be considered unconstitutional.
