Nebraska priest charge in fight with brother

(The Independent) A Roman Catholic priest in Grand Island faces felony charge after being accused of threatening his brother.

The Grand Island Independent reports that 52-year-old Michael Wetovick was charged last week with attempted second-degree assault, using a large piece of wood as a weapon and making terroristic threats for a June 16 incident involving his brother.

Wetovick’s preliminary hearing in Hall County Court has been set for Aug. 29.

Sheriff Chris Rea says Wetovick accused his brother of stealing from him, and a fight ensued. The sheriff says the brothers have been involved in a long-standing feud. [more]
