Pope tells Catholic legislators: heed Church’s social and moral teaching

(Catholic Herald) Pope Francis has urged Catholic legislators to follow the Church’s moral and social teaching when making laws.

Speaking at a meeting of the International Catholic Legislators Network, the Pope noted the large range of political opinions among those present, and called on Catholic politicians of all persuasions to build a more humane and just society.

“The laws that you promulgate and apply ought to build bridges between different political perspectives,” the Pope said, adding that politicians ought to promote “greater care for the defenseless and the marginalized”, and should “favor a correct human and natural ecology.” [More]
