Priest sues ex-altar boy and SNAP over accusations

Published: February 02, 2010

Chicago priest, Fr Chester J. Pryzbylo, has filed a suit for defamation and malicious prosecution against a former altar boy Peter Galica, his lawyers and the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.

In March of 2006, Galica filed a suit claiming Fr Pryzbylo had sexually abused and molested him, starting when he was a 13-year-old Polish immigrant in 1987 until he was 15 years old at the Five Holy Martyrs Church in Chicago, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

The case was investigated by the Department of Child and Family Services and was dismissed three and half years later in Dec. 2009. The allegations of abuse were unfounded, according to the suit.

The suit alleges that Galica, with his attorneys, Jeff Anderson and Pearlman and SNAP spokeswoman Barbara Blaine conspired against Pryzbylo to give interviews, pass out press releases and host press conferences - including in front of Pryzbylo's home and church - in attempt to create sympathy and taint prospective jury pools in a "meritless and scurrilous lawsuit," the Sun-Times says.

The 11-count suit seeks $550,000 in damages, plus the cost of legal fees.

  1. let's see snap apologize and give this priest back his good name.......
    don't hold your breath.......

  2. Frjimt is right. SNAP is drunk on its own power. Bad priests need to be eradicated, but in today's climate any priest is a target just for being a priest. Worse, bishops care less and less about pastoring their Churches and care only about sexual molestation charges. A priest could destroy a parish spiritually, morally, financially and physically, but as long as he's not messing with altar boys, no one in the Chancery is going to give a tinker's damn.
